Spring Workshop

Saturday 4th April was the day for Hagley Art Club’s Spring Workshop with David ‘DJ’ Johnson, the best tutor ever. It was of some concern because this was
the Easter weekend and there is always the worry that people may not be able
to attend. With good fortune and a following wind, we had a full house with
nine members of the club and three visitors from DJ’s regular art group.
It was a smashing day as you would expect, with an interesting subject of
dappled sunlight through some Spring woodland. We were focussed and arty
and DJ’s instructions led to some fantastic work; in fact, I would go so far as to
say there was not a sub-standard piece painted. Even though we had a range
of different abilities with some of us working in oils, water soluble oils and
acrylics, all efforts were outstanding.
The banter was good and DJ is always so encouraging, kindly and always with
some good inspiring good humour. Well done to all people, I’m proud of you.
